Sheila Roberts
Sheila Roberts (nee Glendinning) is a printmaker based in Comrie. Always fascinated by art, Sheila studied drawing and painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where she learned to etch under the expert guidance of Ian Fern. When she moved to Edinburgh, Sheila became an active member of the Edinburgh Printmakers and continued to experiment with different printmaking styles and techniques with the support of the master printmaker and technician, Alfons Bytautas.
Sheila moved to Comrie in 1995 and worked briefly from a wash shed behind her flat before moving house and raising a family. In 2015, Sheila returned to her love of printmaking, working from her studio in the garden, taking part in Perthshire Open Studios and exhibiting locally.
In 2017, she came second (anonymously) in the Teeside Print Prize with ‘Night Owl’, competing against established international printmakers. Sheila has exhibited her work as far afield as Hawaii, Paris and London. You can see her latest work showcased at our gallery.
